Heather began training at Harlow School of Dance at the age of 4 learning Tap, Ballet and Jazz with Miss Gapps at Mortdale Scout Hall. At the age of 10 Heather began entering eisteddfods as a soloist gaining much success. Her performance experience continued with involvement in the Stageclass to the age of 19, performing at many competitions, school fetes and festivals.
In her time as a student at Harlow School of Dance, Heather has completed all her FATD Jazz and Tap grades up to Supreme Tap and Bar to Star Gold. She is currently studying to be examined in Bar to Star Ballet. During her time at Harlow School of Dance she has experienced Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballet and Contemporary.
Heather began teaching at Harlow School of Dance as an assistant at 14 years of age. Heather found this time valuable as it taught her how to teach technique and correct posture, along with gaining an insight into how to conduct a class, develop behaviour management skills and strategies, along with establishing herself as a positive and purposeful teacher. At 16, she began her teaching qualification exams and since qualifying has been teaching tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary to a range of ages.
Whilst at High School, Heather represented the school, dancing at State Dance Festivals, Regional Dance Festivals, Schools Spectaculars, along with the Opening Ceremony of the Pan Pacific School Games and the 2000 Sydney Olympic Opening Ceremony. Heather's dance talent was acknowledged through audition selection into Dance 2001, a Regional Dance Ensemble, progressing then onto successful audition selection into the placePlaceNameNSW PlaceTypeStates PlaceTypeSchool's Dance Company from 2001 to 2004. Within this program Heather was given immense dance opportunities, performing at various events including the NRL Heritage Game, festivals, corporate events and at Schools Spectacular. An overseas tour to America and France saw Heather perform at Universal Studios, Disneyland, at various high schools and also on a cruise boat in the Caribbean. Heather has also performed on Channel V in Room 208, and also at Dreamworld and Seaworld in Queensland.
Currently Heather is studying for a Bachelor of Dance and PD/H/PE at ACPE.
Heather finds all styles inspiring for a range of reasons, whether it be the rhythms, the energy, the versatility or the way the style makes her feel.
As a teacher Heather wants to inspire individuals to become creative and to use their minds and body as a tool for dance.
